The City of Dana Point manages a citywide contract for street sweeping services. Street sweeping occurs once per week on all public streets in Dana Point. Street sweeping has been proven as an effective way to prevent street pollutants from entering our Dana Point storm drains, watersheds, and beaches. The streets sweeper also helps keep our streets and gutters looking great! The street sweeper removes anywhere between 45 and 80 tons of dirt and debris from Dana Point streets each month. Without a street sweeping program, these pollutants would enter the storm drain and end up directly at the beach, affecting the quality of our ocean water.
We need your help! There are designated areas in the City that have restricted parking during street sweeping hours. It is very important that all Dana Point residents move their cars out of the street on street sweeping day so that the sweeper can sweep the entire street without weaving in between parked cars. Please find out when your street gets swept either by looking at the maps below. You must have Acrobat Reader to view attachments. The street sweeping schedule changes on designated holidays, which are: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. The reason why the street sweeping schedule changes on these days is because the trash schedule is delayed one day on the same major holidays. This means that the trash cans are out on different days. For this reason, the street sweeper does special projects during the week of a major holiday and may not sweep your street on the usual day or at the usual time.
